Of Thunderbolts and Ambers

The search for shells, thunderbolts, chicken gods and special stones goes down very well with the children. They collect anything interesting they can find on the fringe between the water and the beach and show each other their treasures. Thunderbolts, for example, are fossilized squid tails; chicken gods are mostly flints with washed-out chalk deposits that are supposed to protect the domestic fowl against evil spirits. Amber, also called the "gold of the sea", is a tree resin millions of years old. The sea is not only a bathing paradise, but rather a fascinating habitat, of which only the smallest part can be seen on the beach.

But not only on the Baltic Sea beach, but throughout Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, little explorers can go exploring or conquer the adventure playgrounds, climb through the treetops or understand how nature ticks in the nature experience centers.
