26,000 kilometers of waterways are waiting to be explored in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. From the Baltic Sea and Bodden coast to island tours, from the Mecklenburg Lake District with its 2,000 lakes to the extensive river network, the largest water sports area in Europe, there is something for everyone.
Quiet, relaxed, just-as-you-go paddling is possible for just one day or a weekend or as a multi-day tour. You can do it on your own or organized as a guided tour. Above all, it should be fun: On the Peene and its lakes, you can relax and enjoy nature without any significant currents, locks or differences in height. If you look closely, the water glistens a little proud of its EDEN award ("European Destinations of Excellence"). On the lovingly christened "Amazon of the North" you will hardly meet a soul - but you will see sea eagles, kingfishers, herons and beavers. Adventure-seekers can experience a little more action-packed water travel on stretches of the Warnow. But the Mildenitz, Trebel, Elbe and Elde, Tollense and Uecker and, last but not least, the Recknitz will also get you on board for great outdoor water fun.

And it doesn't always have to be inland. Experienced sea kayakers will find exciting areas with rough, energetic waters around Rügen, Stralsund or on the Greifswalder Bodden. The Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula offers a special perspective. Tens of thousands of cranes gather here in the fall before heading south. Here you can paddle quietly in harmony with nature and marvel at the flight of the birds.
