High on horseback - if you like, you can explore the idyllic municipality of Ummanz on a leisurely carriage or charabanc ride with the Ummanz Haflingers. Active people also get their money's worth. Whether accompanied rides in the countryside or an adventure day on the farm, a varied offer is individually arranged.
The Haflinger breeding Ummanz is the oldest in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Since 2002, Norbert Briesemeister has been master of horses of all ages of the breeding, which was founded in 1974. The Haflingers, a breed of Arabian and mountain horse, obviously feel at home on Ummanz. In addition to the riding and driving tourism with its diverse year-round offers, including riding for the disabled, mare's milk is produced.
Ummanz mare's milk is an original natural product - it grows on the natural pastures of the island. Situated between Rügen and Hiddensee, there is no industry far and wide on Ummanz. Little traffic and the good sea air leave the pastures of the Haflinger breed free of pollutants. In winter, the Ummanz Haflingers are in groups in the playpen and can move freely in the run at any time. In addition to the production of drinking milk, which is obtained as preferential milk, cosmetic and wellness products are also made from the untreated Ummanz mare's milk. These can be tasted on the farm. The products processed into natural cosmetics can be purchased, among other places, at the Bergen Rugard pharmacy or at the Kliewe adventure farm. If you want to see the horses in action: Every year in August the traditional Ummanz horse show "Tonnenabschlagen" takes place. Carriage and charabanc rides in the municipality of Ummanz and beyond can be arranged individually with groups of riders. (Ent)exciting excursions in connection with romantic dike walks and exciting stories of Briesemeister are also on the program. Our tip: Visit the Haflinger also in winter and explore, with a little luck, the island by sled.
