For many people, a dog is a loyal companion in everyday life and for this reason alone should not be missing on vacation. For dog lovers, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is a real insider tip for a relaxing vacation. Whether dog-friendly vacation apartments or campsites, vacations on the beach or lake, active, cultural or recreational programs or a little bit of everything: Between the Baltic Sea and the Lake District, a wide range of dog hotels, long walks along specially designated dog trails and a variety of excursion options await you and your furry friends.

On an adventure tour with your dog

With three national parks, three biosphere reserves and seven nature parks, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has the best conditions for plenty of exercise and exciting excursions with your dog. Nature enthusiasts can explore the landscape with their four-legged friends on numerous hiking and cycling routes, take a break at secluded lakes and rivers or roam through fairytale forests.

Holidays on the Baltic Sea or the country's rivers and lakes provide plenty of variety. Canoeing and sailing tours provide seaworthy dogs with a refreshing cool-down with plenty of activity. However, hikers should note that their four-legged friend must be kept on a lead in some large protected areas.

Dog beaches in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Numerous vacation resorts have adapted to guests with dogs and have special dog beaches with and without a leash requirement. So nothing stands in the way of a visit to the beach with a romp in the sand, racing in the surf or a dip in the cool water. In many places, the rules are also relaxed outside of the season. People and dogs can then enjoy the miles of beaches together without any restrictions.
