SUP spots in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania offers more than 2,000 lakes and more than 1,900 kilometers of coastline on the Baltic Sea and Bodden. The best place for the inexperienced to start is at one of the surf spots with an extensive standing area, such as Uuml;ckeritz, practically with an adjacent campsite and a surf school. Rosengarten offers less hustle and bustle but plenty of pure nature and shallow water for bathing.
Smooth water and extensive routes for SUP multi-day tours can be found on the Elde, Warnow, Trebel or Peene with little flow speed and no rapids.
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania several lagoons can also be explored. These are shallow water areas that are partially or completely cut off from the sea – in this case from the Baltic Sea – .Due to the shallow water in these regions, they are perfect for surfing and stand-up paddling.
Lagoons in MV include the Salzhaff near Rerik and the Radelsee near Rostock. On Rügen you will find the Great and the Small Jasmund Bodden, the Wreechener See and the two bays Glewitzer and Schoritzer Wiek for ideal SUP tours. In Stralsund the Deviner See, near Greifswald the Kooser See and west of the island of Usedom the Krösliner See are among the lagoons.
The best entry points for SUPers are clearly listed on the map. Some SUP areas are protected and may not be used by motorboat. This guarantees pure tranquillity.
