Churches

The church at Zehna is part of the Lutheran parish of Lohmen in the Rostock district.

The church building of the village church, the construction of which was started in the second half of the 13th century, was built in the period of transition from Romanesque to Gothic. Brick has been used for the design of the gable walls and windows. The eastern choir wall has a gable richly decorated with blinds, a toothed frieze and a group of triple windows. In the late Gothic carved altar from the 16th century, there is a Madonna between four saints in the central shrine. In the side wings there are figures of apostles in two rows one above the other. Also special is the wooden pulpit from 1575. The oldest piece of equipment is a granite baptismal font from the 13th century.

Church tours are to be arranged with the Lunow family in Zehna. Tel.: 038458 / 20349.

    Parish Church of St. Mary

    • Markt, 18273 Güstrow

The Güstrow parish church stands on the market square in the immediate vicinity of the town hall. The first documented mention of the parish church dates back to 1308. After the fire in the center of Güstrow in 1503, which also destroyed the church, it was rebuilt and consecrated in 1508. When you enter the parish church, the first thing you see is the completely restored Jan Borman altar from 1522. This work of art, the ornate pulpit, the impressive organ and a small Barlach angel are already reasons enough to take a look around. But there is one very special highlight that you should not miss: 196 steps lead up to the 41 meter high observation deck of the highest building in Güstrow. A magnificent view over the city and Heidberge, the lakes and the meadows leaves many tourists amazed.
