A reverent look at the musical legacy of Udo Jürgens with Detlev Kloppot & Band.
What a brilliant songwriter and musician who has really worked for his success. His head and heart were always full of music his whole life. He wrote tearjerkers, pop songs, world hits and used the entire musical spectrum. Tours around the world on big stages with big orchestras and above all the Pepe Lienhart Orchestra, huge sounds, light and show spectacles and really always enthusiastic audiences. Hats off, no question, not many people can do that - but let's be honest, when was he closest to us, when did he, when did his music touch us most deeply?
Anyone who has ever been to one of his legendary concerts knows what is meant and knows the answer. One man, a piano and a bathrobe - there have been countless attempts to copy it, but the intensity, the immediacy of Udo Jürgens has never been achieved.
No further attempt will be made this evening. Today we want to free ourselves from the musical bombast of a large orchestra, backing choir and enormous light show and try to uncover the musical and compositional core of each song with our small line-up. Supported by the benevolent lighting of the theater and finely drawn pictures by Otto Sperlich. Let us take you on a non-chronological but well-tempered journey, a gliding flight through well-known and less well-known melodies that have remained.
