This summer, the sound installation "Under the Surface" by Lisa Marie Steude will complement the exhibitions at the Prora Documentation Center. At the opening on July 4 at 5 p.m., a catalog by the Rügen artist will also be presented, which has been published in the series "East German Signatures" by the East German Savings Bank Foundation and curated by Susanne Burmester.
The Prora Documentation Center is dedicated to the history of the "KdF seaside resort Rügen" planned by the National Socialists and makes an important contribution to the culture of remembrance and democratic education.
In her work "Under the Surface", which was last shown at the Kunsthalle Rostock, Lisa Marie Steude deals with the human capacity for empathy, which forms the basis for democratic processes and social coexistence. In the context of the exhibitions and at the historical location, the work invites visitors to perceive themselves and others in a new way.
