We continue our journey north with the Adumá Saxophone Quartet. The music takes us to Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
Rugged landscapes with jagged mountains, fjords and forests, mountain trolls, gnomes and all kinds of elves - hardly any other composer has translated the mystical magical world of the far north into music as vividly as Edvard Grieg. In "From Holberg's Time", his "Suite in the Old Style", there are also echoes of the romantic Nordic style that was taken up by later Scandinavian composers. Sigurd Rascher, a pioneer of the classical saxophone, appreciated the Nordic countries not least because they offered him a temporary retreat and place of learning during the Nazi era. And so, far from the famous French saxophone school, he developed his very own saxophone culture. Adumá is predestined to discover this: Equipped with cultural backgrounds from Germany, Russia and China, the international classical saxophone quartet from Berlin constantly develops surprising programs and proves the stylistic breadth of their instrument in all registers.
