Legends and tales from Mecklenburg Switzerland
Mecklenburg Switzerland is a land richly blessed with centuries-old churches and church ruins, castle ramparts from the Slavic era, old castles and tower mounds where knights once lived and wreaked havoc. Old gnarled trees stretch their branches into the sky, burial mounds and megalithic tombs lie hidden in the forest or the fields, small lakes shimmer like eyes in the landscape. This area has developed a magic of its own, which has inspired all kinds of fantastic legends, tales and fairy tales. Field names often still bear witness to these stories, which have often only been passed on orally. Much has been forgotten and only a few have been written down. But there are people who have collected such stories. One such storyteller is the retired pastor Eckart Hübener from Rambow. On the Saturday after Midsummer, when the nights are the shortest of the year, he will present his stories to the audience in the "Desert Church" in Domherrenhagen near Ulrichshusen, an enchanted place. People have always regarded Midsummer Night in particular as a mystical day, as it is the shortest night of the year. It is therefore not surprising that many fantastic tales refer to this night. In his incomparable way, Mr. Hübener will take the audience into the magical world of Mecklenburg Switzerland on this special night. Let yourself be surprised.
Admission costs 5 euros per person, children under the age of 12 can listen to the stories free of charge.
The event takes place outdoors, but should it rain, the event will be held in the old vicarage in Rambow.
