Not a classic musical, play or concert An encounter with the inspiration Janis Joplin with the soul singer FLOY from Hamburg
She embodied the spirit of the revolution like no other!
She was the first female rock star, sang the blues in her own deeply emotional way and broke with the conventions of her time.
On the 50th anniversary of Janis Joplin's death, on October 4, 2020, ME, MYSELF AND JANIS JOPLIN celebrates its premiere in front of an enthusiastic audience at the Englisches Theater Hamburg.
The director of the Englisches Theater Hamburg, successful director Paul Glaser (Apologia, Dorian Grey) and Hamburg soul singer Floy are bringing the spirit of one of the most fascinating personalities in contemporary musical history back to the stage!
Floy, whose great soul voice and explosive performance have been thrilling audiences for decades, and not just in her home city of Hamburg, will be addressing the question of what influence Janis Joplin's legacy still has on all of our lives today in this rousing show.
She leafs through the pages of the book of the legend's life and not only gives the audience an insight into lesser-known chapters, but also reveals very personal moments from her own life in which Janis Joplin played a major role for her.
In combination with a musical performance reduced to piano and vocals, the result is a charmingly intimate, funny and wild theatrical experience!
United in the spirit of the blues, pianist Jonas Krampe and Floy ignite a firework display of virtuosity and improvisation on stage, which always has new surprises in store and makes every show unique.
"This is not a classic musical, play or concert, but rather an encounter with the inspiration of Janis Joplin," says Paul Glaser.
The spirit of the revolution is as relevant today as it was 50 years ago!
