"Hamster & Friends" - Exhibition in the Teterow Gallery
Joachim Hamster Damm and various artists - painting/graphics
This unusual exhibition congratulates the stage designer, graphic artist and painter Joachim Hamster Damm on his 60th birthday. The focus is on twelve large-format panel paintings that deal with the theme of "Man in battle with nature". These are accompanied by painterly and graphic works by the all-round artist, such as numerous portraits, book illustrations for "Goethe im Berg" or "Mein Franz Fühmann", scenic designs for the theater, figurines and puppets as well as political posters from the reunification period such as the famous picture "Grandmother, why do you have such big teeth".An illustrious, wide-ranging world of art opens up to the viewer, as Hamster Damm was a stage and costume designer as well as poster designer at major theaters such as the Schauspielhaus Bochum, the Hans-Otto-Theater Potsdam, the Berliner Ensemble and the Theater Malta. The jack-of-all-trades also created "water theater" and was head of the artist network "Fluchtkunst" with a "mobile sauna". The exhibition is complemented by guest contributions from friends, fellow students and companions from 40 years of intensive artistic activity, including the kinetic figures of Reinhardt Grimm, with whom Hamster Damm collaborated on several performance projects. Artistic congratulations also go to painter Ronald Lippok, sculptor Micha Koch, stage designers Klemens Kühn and Andrea Eisensee, photographer Natascha Paulick and ceramicist Hinrich Kröger.
