"Tolerance"
Since 2017, Mirko Ilić, a New York-based artist with Bosnian roots, has been inviting graphic artists and designers from all over the world to create a poster on the theme of tolerance using the word "tolerance" in their native language. Since then, a collection of well over 220 posters has been created with the aim of showing them worldwide as a traveling exhibition. Among the artists represented is Güstrow-based, world-renowned graphic artist Prof. Gunter Rambow.
The Tolerance Poster Show has already visited more than 40 countries and over 150 cities and is now making a stop in the Barlach town of Güstrow. Its presentation is not limited to the gallery space of the Wollhalle. In line with the exhibition concept, it also includes public, partly freely accessible facilities and locations in order to become part of the public discourse on this very topical issue.
The adaptation of the exhibition for Güstrow envisages showing the majority of the poster collection in the Wollhalle Municipal Gallery, with at least 100 posters. Numerous other motifs will then be displayed in public indoor and outdoor areas, including at the train station, in the adult education center, at Galerie Rambow on Domplatz as well as in various shop windows and as banners in selected streets in the old town. A complete overview of all exhibition locations is available on the gallery's website: https://www.guestrow.de/stadt-kultur-politik/kultur/galerie-wollhalle.
Further information on the exhibition project, including the current and previous locations, can be found on the project website https://tolerance-project.org/.
