Exhibition of drawings by Gerhard Marcks (1889-1981)
Gerhard Marcks (1889-1981) also visited the larger cities in the Baltic Sea region during the years 1929 to 1945, most of which he spent in Niehagen. As he did not take photographs, he drew what interested him: Harbors, churches, historic streets in Wismar, Rostock or Stralsund and later also their destruction by the war. The small-format pencil drawings are grouped together to form his very personal travel diary.
