STATE YOUTH ORCHESTRA MECKLENBURG-VORPOMMERN
This year, the Landesjugendorchester will not only be performing in the Palmberghalle for a change, but also in southern Europe.
The Carmen Suite No. 1 brings opera music by Georges Bizet to the stage, arranged purely for concert use by Bizet's friend and colleague Ernest Guiraud (1837-1892). The Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquín Rodrigo will also be performed in a remarkable arrangement: Vienna Philharmonic solo harpist Anneleen Lenaerts will play the solo part, originally composed for guitar, in her own version.
César Franck did not compose his Second Symphony in D minor until 50 years after his First Symphony in G major. It initially had a difficult time on the concert stage, but is now one of the most popular and frequently performed great works of the 19th century - provided that an apparatus is available that knows how to transform the unconventional score into gripping music. Under the direction of Stanley Dodds, this will succeed once again! The large orchestra, which always knows how to inspire its audience, receives intensive technical support in the individual instrumental groups during the rehearsal phase from experienced professionals who share their knowledge with the best young musicians in the country. In this way, youthful freshness is combined with proven ability in an unmistakable way, because the young musicians then have to play the concert themselves...
