Captain Jenson has bought a boat with his scarce, but nevertheless very laboriously saved money. When he finally arrives at the harbor to inspect it, he discovers that a stowaway is living there: Black Joe. Together they decide to embark on a great voyage around the world. But the plan threatens to fail, as the captain first destroys half the boat through his clumsiness. But together with the children, the barge is soon repaired and the world trip can begin. A crew is put together and everyone is ready. But further difficulties lie ahead. Captain Jenson taunts Neptune, and the great ruler of the seas sends a violent storm that sends the boat far into uncharted waters.
