Restaurants, Fish Restaurant

The red house is a beautiful restaurant on the island of Hiddensee. We cook cosmopolitan with ingredients from the region.

The traditional wooden house in Swedish style is located in the middle of the village Vitte on the island of Hiddensee. Painted red on the outside and brightly glazed on the inside, the recently renovated restaurant is invitingly friendly and cozy. In front of the house is the outdoor terrace with a view of the village, behind the house are planted in large raised beds the herbs for the kitchen. The kitchen with recipes and ingredients takes its inspiration from the Baltic Sea region. The dishes are delicious, modern and uncomplicated. Here, the fish comes from Hiddensee's cutter fishermen and the meat from the neighboring island of Öhe, where owner Mathias Schilling raises his cattle and sheep. The small menu is complemented by seasonal daily specials. Particularly popular are the Hiddensee cod stew, Öhe lamb stilts, barley risotto and quark kringle with cherries. On request, most vegetarian dishes can also be prepared vegan.
