The lock is located just outside the center of Mirow. It is also known as the gateway to the Müritz, as the Kleinseenplatte and the Müritz were artificially connected here in 1935/36.
The Mirow lock is a technical monument in the town of Mirow.
It is part of the Müritz-Havel waterway and is still operated manually by a lock keeper. The lock has a length of 56 m and a width of 6.6 m. Large lifting gates enclose the water chamber and a height difference of approx. 3.5 m. The lock gates open every hour on the hour from April to the end of October.
