Cafés

Enjoy our delicacies and a little time out in a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. There are homemade cakes, home-made juices and a selection of fine organic teas and coffees. Some of the products are also made for sale at the counter so that you can take them away with you.

The Buddha House, which was built close to the modern Saunstorf Monastery, offers the opportunity to get a taste of the monastery air and find peace and quiet. In addition to the holistic healing center and the monastery store, the café is located here - as a meeting place for monastery guests, people from the region, tourists and all those who want to linger in this place. The delicacies on offer are prepared according to tried and tested recipes from the monastery community or experienced chefs from the manor house kitchen. Freshly harvested produce from the orchards and herb gardens, honey from the monastery bees, eggs from free-range chickens and certified organic products from local farms are used. This is not a highly professional café business, but one that offers the culinary and atmospheric qualities of the monastery and its community. As far as possible, all products are made in-house - some are sold over the counter or in the monastery store. While the cozy sofa and an open fireplace are inviting in winter, in summer you can enjoy the terrace under the arcades with a view of the greenery and the monastery portal. The café has the highest level of organic certification, confirmed by the golden seal of the DE-ÖKO-034 eco-control.
