In a small private collection they see old ship lanterns from 1906 to modern times. It is with 600 ship lanterns the largest collection in Europe! Furthermore, you can see numerous old nautical devices that were used in the past for ship navigation. Interesting for sailors and landlubbers!

The Maritime Collection Kaltenhof is a small private collection of old driven ship lanterns and nautical equipment from over 100 years of shipping. The visitor gets an insight into the lights of ships of different sizes. An old anchor lantern is lit and the visitors experience the flair of these old lanterns. Furthermore, old nautical devices for position determination, time measurement, speed measurement and weather forecasting are shown and their mode of operation is explained. Foghorns, steam whistles, shipbuilding signs; signal flags, anchor balls and numerous other exhibits round off the exhibition. A must for every interested vacationer and local.

Museum of the History of the Hanseatic City of Wismar in the Schabbell

St. George Church

Island Museum Poel Island

The island museum presents on more than 250 square meters an extensive and regionally consistently limited collection on the natural history and local history of the island of Poel. St. Mary's Church, Wismar

The 80-metre-high tower of St. Mary's Church is a widely visible landmark of the Hanseatic city of Wismar. In World War II the church was severely damaged. The church was mostly demolished in 1960, so that only the tower remained. Until then, it was considered one of the most beautiful brick churches in Northern Germany.

Surfspot Pepelow

The spot at the Salzhaff offers shallow water deluxe! You can park in front of or on the campsite. Day tickets are available at the reception. The Salzhaff is very shallow and the standing area is therefore extremely large. Especially windsurfers have to walk further out at low tide so that the fin doesn't involuntarily become an anchor. Pepelow shows its best side with southwest to north.
