Here in the western part of the monastery grounds, in the lovingly restored gatehouse, the Hahn family offers regional food products as well as ceramics, wild silk and other artisan specialties from the area around Bad Doberan.

The former monastery grounds with the famous Doberan Minster, ossuary (Karne), granary, wolf barn and the farm building are enclosed by the medieval monastery wall, which is over 1 km long and still completely intact. In the western part, the gatehouse has been preserved and lovingly restored. Today it is home to TORHAUS Bad Doberaner Klosterladen, whose architectural shell is just as interesting as the products on offer, where Mrs. Pairat Hahn sells spices such as long pepper, box horn clover and cubeb. She also offers regional food products as well as ceramics, wild silk and other handicraft specialties from the Bad Doberan region. There are also typical monastery products such as the monastery's own beer, as well as wines, beers, brandies, liqueurs and mustard from the manufactories of other monasteries. In the café, visitors can enjoy fresh cakes, such as the home-baked Bad Doberan monastery cake, which is famous far beyond the region. A historical recipe was "dug up" and adapted to modern times. While you linger in the Torhaus garden under an old walnut tree, you can browse through the monastery, enjoy delicious food and soak up the atmosphere, as the Torhaus also serves as an information and service point for the former Cistercian monastery of Doberan and has literature, historical writings and information boards on the history of the buildings. TORHAUS Bad Doberan monastery store is highly recommended by the gourmet magazine DER FEINSCHMECKER as one of the best stores on the Baltic Sea.TORHAUS was awarded the coveted GASTRO Award 2012 by the Northern Retail Association and the Rostock trade fair company for the most creative retail concept of the year.farm store: Eggs, bread and baked goods, honey, jams, sea buckthorn products, drinks, coffee, organic products, handicrafts, monastery products.
