Castles and Manors, family-friendly

Trechow Castle is located in a charming terminal moraine landscape at Trechow Lake and is a manor house built of granite ashlars around 1590 to 1601 on an old foundation. Due to its unique building material and the special illusion painting of 1795, it was elevated to the status of a National Cultural Monument in 2009.

The present complex was built in the early 19th century on the foundation walls and foundations of a medieval moated castle in the early Renaissance style. The hipped roof building has two main floors with rectangular windows and a mezzanine floor above with round-arched windows. The original castle complex was one of the few knights' residences in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern that survived the Thirty Years' War largely undamaged.

Guided tours by the lord of the manor are possible by arrangement.
