Into the Sailing Paradise

Water under the Keel and Wind in the Sails

Whether braving the wind and waves on the Baltic Sea, gliding along the Peene River or conquering Germany's largest inland lake - sailing in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern means experiencing unbridled freedom in a variety of ways.

Water under the keel and wind in the sails

A good 2,000 kilometers of coastline and over 2,000 lakes offer numerous sailing areas for professionals, beginners and fellow sailors. Thanks to the varied coastal landscape, the fresh, salty sea air and the good wind conditions, the Baltic Sea is an excellent area for exciting sailing trips. But even away from the open sea, leisure captains will find the best conditions for setting sail in the Mecklenburg Lake District. The Müritz is particularly popular, with a water area of 117 square kilometers an absolute paradise for all sailing professionals and all those who want to become one.

Numerous marinas and sports boat harbors with over 25,000 berths as well as boat service, charter and sailing schools stand for an excellent maritime infrastructure.

In addition to individual sailing trips, many places also offer co-sailing opportunities. From rustic traditional sailing boats to fast and sporty catamarans and speed sailing yachts, sailing is an active experience where everyone can get involved.
