The hike begins at the pier of the Baltic health spa Graal-Müritz. On it, you can stroll 350 meters out to sea without getting your feet wet. From there, the view sweeps over the endless fine Baltic Sea beach and the storm-formed coastal forest. Along the paved promenade, hikers are accompanied by installations of the "BIG" plants and animals of the sea.
The path leads behind the dunes towards Dierhagen and after about 1 km into the deep green forest. Here begins the Great Moor, one of the most interesting coastal raised bogs in Germany. A moor circular path winds through the nature reserve. The primeval forest-like, fresh-green alder breaks and pine moor forests are home to the blood red darter, the otter and the moor frog.
The trail continues along the "Neuer Moorweg" to the small forest settlement of Neuheide. In the "Information Center Forest and Moor" the visitor experiences the diversity of the unique landscape of the coastal forest. In the immediate vicinity, a private museum with "Paradise Garden" and "Natural Treasure Chamber" invites visitors to pause and take a tour. Hundreds of native animal, plant and fungus species can be marveled at in the fascinating exhibition.
The trail leads through the dense forest of the Rostock Heath to the Cross Oak. One of the 1,000-year-old oaks that can be marveled at in the Rostock Heath. From here, the trail leads back to Graal-Müritz via the Börning- and Natheiden-Schneise. The last section is characterized by varied forest scenery. Back in Graal-Müritz, a detour to the unique Rhododendron Park is worthwhile. With 60 different rhododendron varieties and over 2,000 perennials, it is one of the largest in Germany.
