One of the most beautiful excursions in the area surrounding the royal seat of Neustrelitz leads to the "Serrahner Buchenwälder" World Heritage Site, probably the most unspoilt part of the Müritz National Park. The hike begins in a wooded area where the tree population is initially characterized by spruces and then by oaks and beeches. Enjoy a short rest in a hammock and look up at the sky through the canopy of leaves. The hiking trail now narrows into a real adventure trail that leads to the viewing point at the Großer Serrahnsee. This is an ideal observation point for white-tailed eagles and ospreys, which find protected breeding grounds in the wooded and watery landscape. Following the hiking trail, you will reach Serrahn via a moorland footbridge. The UNESCO World Heritage Site "Ancient Beech Forests of Germany" is located here. In these natural forests, fungi and insects can find plenty of dead wood and a habitat that has become rare. In the varied exhibition "In the realm of beech trees", you can learn interesting facts about the trees that once shaped the landscape in Central Europe. The main trail to Zinow takes you back to the starting point of the hike.
