THE GREGORIAN VOICES

THE GREGORIAN VOICES - the masters of Gregorian chant will play on July 17, 2023 from 7:00 pm in the festival hall in the Baltic resort Boltenhagen.

Since the spring of 2011, the group THE GREGORIAN VOICES is again on tour in Europe. With its leader Georgi Pandurov and eight exceptional soloists, it takes on the legacy of the male choir GLORIA DEI. The goal of this choir was to revive the tradition of Orthodox church music, and the ensemble received several international awards. In addition, the members of the group were granted the rare permission to wear monastic robes during concerts.

The current vocal octet from Bulgaria is a male choir whose mission is to revive the early medieval tradition of Gregorian chant. All eight singers have classical vocal training. In keeping with the Gregorian tradition, they sing in unison. With their excellent voices and numerous solo pieces, the choir proves that Gregorian chant is still alive today.

The eight singers dressed in monk's robes manage to create a mystical atmosphere. They make the listener daydream and take him back to the world of the Middle Ages. The chants of the choir take the audience into a spiritual world of sound without temporal, religious or linguistic boundaries. Due to the simple presentation of the choir, the audience has the opportunity to fully concentrate on the mystical atmosphere and the impressive performance.

The program of GREGORIAN VOICES consists of classical Gregorian chants, Orthodox church chants, Renaissance and Baroque songs and madrigals, as well as some selected classics of pop music, sung in the style of medieval Gregorian chant. Gregorian chant or Gregorian chant is the unison, unaccompanied, liturgical chant of the Catholic Church in Latin that accompanies the spiritual life of the Church to this day. The songs are characterized by spiritual depth. They transport the listener to the world of medieval monasteries and offer a beautiful time of reflection.

Gregorian chant is understood as meditative, spiritual singing. The power of its melodies lends a solemn character to the liturgy and allows the singer and listener to have their own meditative and spiritual experience. Through the expression of deep faith, will to live, pure joy, dynamics and rhythm, the songs of the GREGORIAN VOICES inspire and get under the skin of the audience.
