Knight Kasper and the devil
Kasper the Knight and the Devil
In this play, Kasper is once again the old proletarian like his relatives Mr. Punch in England or Guignol in France. But he has finally made it: he has his own home in the form of a castle and has finally become a knight. Now he wants to behave himself and become a "proper pillar of our society". He even swears that if he ever beats anyone again, may the devil take him. The devil has already smuggled himself into the castle as a hairdresser and kidnaps Grete during her visit to the hairdresser. Men often don't really notice when their wives have been to the hairdresser. But the fact that Kasper doesn't notice who comes to his house tells you a lot about Kasper and has made many a child's voice very hoarse... The devil now tries everything to get Kasper into a fight. What happens to them and how it ends is not revealed.
