Entertaining guided tour with an expert guide through the dune landscape of Altwarp. Find out how the sand came to Altwarp and who and what lives there.
You have probably already noticed that you are living or staying in a very diverse region. Here in the nature park you will find a wide variety of habitats very close together.
But did you know that there are even deserts here? - No, well then let one of the nature park rangers take you into our desert world. Every Tuesday (from mid-May to mid-September) you can get to know the vastness of the Altwarp desert (inland dune) landscape. Even if it is admittedly not really a desert, desert-like conditions sometimes prevail here. The surface of the dunes can heat up to more than 50°C on a sunny summer's day. Nevertheless, there is life on and in the inland dunes. You can find out which animal and plant species have specialized in this habitat and, above all, how the dunes came to be in the landscape on an entertaining walk with an expert guide. You will also get fantastic views of the landscape - just give it a try.
