The exhibition shows photographs of his sculptures, which can be found in Bad Doberan and in the Mecklenburg region.
The sculptor Reinhard Schmidt worked in several places in Germany over the course of his life, ultimately in Mecklenburg. He worked as a freelance artist in Lübz, Wismar and Bad Doberan as well as teaching at the (former) Technical College for Applied Arts (FAK) in Heiligendamm.
Reinhard Schmidt died in Bad Doberan 45 years ago, on April 13, 1980. The reason for an exhibition about him is also based on his neighborhood at the time and his friendship with Ehm Welk. The bust of Ehm Welk created by Schmidt is a sign of this.
The exhibition shows photographs of his sculptures and sculptures that can be found in Bad Doberan and the Mecklenburg region. On the Kamp in the center of Doberan stands his sculpture "Landarbeiter", colloquially known as "Melker", for all to see. Few people know that this was created by Reinhard Schmidt, just like the sculpture "Father and Son" on the beach promenade in Kühlungsborn-Ost. Other works by Schmidt can be found in squares or in front of buildings in Rostock, Barth and Sassnitz - just not known or almost forgotten ...
The exhibition is complemented by original sculptures and designs as well as contemporary documents.
