as part of the 23rd Ahrenshoop Jazz Festival
Andreas Pasternack (ts, sax, voc), Franz-Josef Lubken (p), Christian Ahnsehl (g), Enrique Marcano-González (kb), special guest: Joachim Böskens (dr)
The jazz band "Swingin' Seagulls" was formed in 2016 and is dedicated to the swing and standards of the early 20s and 30s. The special thing about this formation is that they reinterpret well-known classics of old jazz with their own arrangements in the style of a small big band. The saxophonist and singer Andreas Pasternack is one of the best-known and most popular musicians in our country, but has also performed to great acclaim in Japan, Poland and the USA. He leads his own big band, presents the NDR radio program "Jazztime" once a week and is the winner of the Culture Prize of the Hanseatic City of Rostock and the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Franz-Josef Lubken has been the musical director of the Bonn jazz band "Doktor Jazz Ambulanz" (DJA) since it was founded in 1977. The band has performed in many jazz clubs and festivals in Germany and abroad and has won the "WDR-Stadtmusik" competition. Enrique Marcano-González comes from Venezuela. He received his diploma in double bass at the Rostock University of Music and Drama. As a freelance bassist, he regularly performs as a guest at the Volkstheater Rostock, among many other projects. Guitarist Christian Ahnsehl studied politics and philosophy, worked for a long time as a musician on cruise ships and has been Andreas Pasternack's musical partner on stage for eight years now.
The "Swinging Seagulls" will be joined by Joachim Böskens (MV state radio station and program director and presenter of "Jazztime von NDR1 Radio MV") and "Mr. Jazz" Andreas Pasternack.
