With works by Samuel Barber, Ola Gjeilo and Dan Forrest, CoroVocalis e.V. presents a moving program that inspires reflection and remembrance.
Samuel Barber (1910 - 1981): "Agnus Dei" after the Adagio for Strings op. 11 for choir and strings
Ola Gjeilo (*1978): "Dark night of the Soul" for choir, string quartet and piano
Dan Forrest (*1978): "Requiem for the Living" for chamber orchestra and choir
Performed by CoroVocalis (Rostock) and instrumentalists under the direction of Daniel Arnold.
The program includes works that are being performed for the first time in Rostock and offer a profound approach to the commemoration of the end of the war and the beginning of the era of peace:
Samuel Barber: "Agnus Dei" after the famous "Adagio for Strings" op. 11 - a piece that moves through its emotional depth and embodies the universal plea for peace.
Ola Gjeilo: "Dark Night of the Soul" - a musical interpretation of a poem by the Spanish mystic John of the Cross, which deals with the dark night, a symbol of existential distress and despair, and the soul's search for divine union.
Dan Forrest: "Requiem for the Living" - a work that not only asks for peace for the deceased, but also reflects the challenges and hopes of the living.
The works invite us to keep remembrance alive and to emphasize the importance of peace and reconciliation. We look forward to seeing you at this special concert, which will be both musically and emotionally moving.
