Toon Fret (flutes) and Andreas Voss (viola da gamba, violoncello)
Both artists share a special affinity for the Schönberg Music Summer - Andreas Voss comes from Schönberg, Toon Fret has been one of the international advocates of the music festival for years - as well as a penchant for a wide range of specializations. Many people play the flute, and many amateurs and professionals alike take up the cello. But to be able to play all possible variations or even "neighboring instruments" at the same time is something that only a few can boast! So we can look forward to hearing how traverso with cello, large flute with viola da gamba, so-called early music in a new way and works from the classical and early modern periods through to contemporary music will both catch the ear and touch the heart.
The Belgian flautist Toon Fret is in demand internationally as a soloist, chamber musician and teacher. He brings baroque soundscapes, classical repertoire and contemporary music to life in an incomparable way. His artistic style is particularly characterized by symbolist and expressionist music.
Andreas Voss performs internationally as a gambist and cellist with a stylistic range from early to contemporary music. With great technical finesse and insatiable curiosity and expressiveness, he explores the depths of music from the most diverse eras as a soloist, in ensembles and in teaching.
The title of the concert is derived from the unusual repertoire in this combination and the estimate that Schönberg/Mecklenburg is about halfway between the two.
