Sabine Curio - Otto Niemeyer-Holstein
From October 14, 2021, the Otto Niemeyer-Holstein studio will be showing paintings and prints from the artist's late work. At the end of the 1960s, a new phase began in Otto Niemeyer-Holstein's artistic oeuvre: his late work. The works became more abstract, informal, condensed and large-format. Niemeyer-Holstein's late graphic oeuvre in particular shows a special freshness and abstraction. The painter, who also took color as his starting point when drawing with charcoal, extended the charcoal pencil by 30 to 40 cm with reed pens and guided the charcoal pencil across the paper like a brush. This creates a unique style that makes the signature of the painter Otto Niemeyer-Holstein unmistakable.
