Under the direction of Stanley Dodds, the LJO will perform a highly romantic program with the Belgian harpist Annaleen Lennearts (Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra)
Georges Bizet, Carmen Suite No. 1
Joaquín Rodrigo, Concierto de Aranjuez for harp and orchestra (original for guitar and orchestra)
César Franck, Symphony in D minor
The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Youth Orchestra (LJO) gives the most talented young musicians between the ages of 13 and 21 the opportunity to play in a large symphonic orchestra. They work on symphonic world literature under professional direction. The 70 to 90 young people are mostly pupils from the state's music schools, but also students from the Rostock University of Music and Drama. The orchestra comes together for two rehearsal and concert phases each year, with experienced orchestral musicians from the state's symphony orchestras leading the rehearsals.
For the summer work phase, "chief conductor" Stanley Dodds has put together a southern European, highly romantic program. The soloist is Belgian-born Annaleen Lennearts, who has been principal harpist with the Vienna Philharmonic since 2010.
