Thomas would prefer to spend his vacation playing video games in his room. When his mother tells him that he is to go to his father Christian in Provence this summer, he is horrified!
Having to spend a few weeks in the countryside with his father is a nightmare for him. But Thomas is not in for an ordinary summer. His father is researching an endangered species of wild goose and has a crazy plan: Thomas is to help him show a flock of orphaned young geese the safest flight route from Norway to France. Despite his initial skepticism, Thomas befriends the animals and soon experiences the greatest adventure of his life.
In rural France lives meteorologist Christian Moullec, who has successfully guided an endangered species of goose from Norway to France with the help of an ultralight aircraft. He has been involved in spectacular campaigns for the protection of endangered animals for years, including the publication of the novel "Flying with the wild geese*". The story in "The Boy and the Wild Geese" is based on his accounts. Director Nicolas Vanier pays tribute to the life of Christan Moullec and makes a passionate plea for nature conservation, wrapped up in a touching coming-of-age story full of humor, charm and a positive message.
