Horse riding

Hunting pleasure on horseback with pack of hounds - a special challenge for horse and rider

Drag hunt riding is the highest type of riding, as a well-conditioned horse must be very well ridden dressage-wise to make hunts a unique experience for both rider and horse.

The red or green hunting coat obligates to consideration and tolerance. Hunting riding should bring joy to all riders at a high level. Today the pack is at home in the heart of the Mecklenburg ParkLand. With fifty Irish Foxhounds it stands in the Kennel on the property Dalwitz and the weekly training leads it around Dalwitz into a far-reaching dreamlike riding area.

Highlight of the annual hunts are the Usedom-Cross-Country, drag hunt days in the riding arena Schlosshotel Wendorf, Fürst-Franz-memorial hunt in the Elbe meadows of Wörlitz/Dessau, hunts on the Vanselow estate and on the Dalwitz estate. In the drag hunt, the pack of hounds follows a scent trail (drag). Those who do not ride in this equestrian event themselves can experience the spectacle through woods and meadows with the hunting horn blowers from Kremsern.

Parish Church of St. Mary

  • Open today
  • Markt, 18273 Güstrow

The Güstrow parish church stands on the market square in the immediate vicinity of the town hall. The first documented mention of the parish church dates back to 1308. After the fire in the center of Güstrow in 1503, which also destroyed the church, it was rebuilt and consecrated in 1508. When you enter the parish church, the first thing you see is the completely restored Jan Borman altar from 1522. This work of art, the ornate pulpit, the impressive organ and a small Barlach angel are already reasons enough to take a look around. But there is one very special highlight that you should not miss: 196 steps lead up to the 41 meter high observation deck of the highest building in Güstrow. A magnificent view over the city and Heidberge, the lakes and the meadows leaves many tourists amazed.
