Hagenow is the gateway to the Griesen Region in southwestern Mecklenburg. The museum, founded in 1974, is dedicated to everyday life in the countryside and in the city - from the Stone Age to the more recent past.
The Goldenbow manor house is one of the oldest manor houses in Mecklenburg. However, the building, which has been in ruins since 1984, was saved and has been under reconstruction since 2009. Today, the manor house can be experienced at various events. Those who would like to stay longer can get to know the house and its dedicated owners through the "Landvergnügen" campaign with their own caravan.
The Renaissance castle from 1573 is especially known for the detailed terracotta decorations on the facade. Currently, the 16th century building is undergoing extensive renovation. The castle can be visited on guided tours during events such as the Open Monument Day.
The Schaalsee-Camp is located between the Schaalsee and the Salemer See. Campfire sites, covered wagons and teepees to spend the night make the charm of this place (no permanent campers). Guests in caravans, mobile homes or tents are of course welcome. From the canoe or bicycle you can explore the slightly hilly landscape.
The Old Synagogue was built in 1828. Today the restored buildings belong to Hagenow museum now. There are exhibitions taking place in the buildings as well as concerts or lectures.
The historic adventure farm houses a café, restaurant and farm store. The spacious farmstead with several buildings and a farm garden can also be rented for celebrations.
Rehna is home to one of the most beautiful and largest preserved monastery complexes in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The monastery offers space for art, theater and music and is a focal point for pilgrimage and long-distance hiking. Particularly worth seeing are the large monastery garden, the late Romanesque monastery church, the Kneipp basin on the monastery grounds, and the pretty town of Rehna with its half-timbered buildings.
Not far from the State capital Schwerin, in the midst of the original nature of the Grambow Moor, surrounded by green meadows, wide fields and beautiful forests you will find a prime example of Mecklenburg estate romanticism - the Grambow Estate. Here you will find a renowned hunting school with 3D shooting center and the in-house restaurant "Schmiede 16" with regional - game specialties also to take away.
The Gallin estate is a versatile agricultural business in the west of Mecklenburg. We manage a contiguous arable and grassland area of 1000 hectares in the scenic UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Schaalsee. An organic butcher's store with farm store and farmhouse parlor belongs to the estate. We have been certified organic for over 20 years.
The former Cistercian nunnery "Himmelspforte" is located on the southern shore of the Schaalsee. The monastery complex, which is well worth seeing, can be visited. There is an exhibition on the history, as well as guided tours and audio guides.

In the creative and handicraft barn you can buy handmade products or make them yourself. In addition, in our residential house built in 1636 (listed building) is a vacation apartment with a size of about 35 square meters.
At the edge of the Biosphere Reserve Schaalsee lies the small village Valluhn. Directly at the entrance to the village is the Trakehnerhof, where about 80 horses have their home. Church of St. Jacob and St. Dionysius Gadebusch is one of the most important buildings in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
The State Fire Museum of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is the regional museum for the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the district of Nordwestmecklenburg. On an area of 2,000 m², the State Fire Brigade Museum displays 5,000 exhibits, including 55 vehicles, trailers and large-scale equipment.
The three-nave, three-bay hall church made of brick rises into the sky on the north side of Wittenburg's market square. It is a work of the North German brick Gothic style, but also bears Romanesque elements on its facades. The church is Protestant.
The English landscape park in Dammereez was created at the beginning of the 19th century and is one of the oldest manor parks in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Due to its very old stock of trees and shrubs, it is one of the most valuable dendrological gardens in Mecklenburg.

"Hemm's all hürt...?" murmurs Fru Püttelkow conspiratorially to the bronze Fiek'n (Sophiechen) on the forecourt of the town hall. The group of figures around the fountain depicts a typical scene of daily life in the rural town of Hagenow and at the same time immortalizes two quaint, quirky characters of Mecklenburg folklore.

The small church, whose fieldstone choir probably dates back to the late 12th century, is idyllically located on the outskirts of Neuenkirchen.
In the immediate vicinity of Boizenburg harbor there is a unique "meeting place", the so-called Weidenschneck. This was built on the green meadow next to the harbor wall a few years ago and is a living structure in the truest sense of the word.
The consequences of the Thirty Years' War were halfway over when Mecklenburg was once again the scene of battles between foreign powers. Sweden and Denmark, engaged in the Nordic War (1700-1721), met at Gadebusch in 1712 and ensured that the small town still has historical significance today.
Roggendorf Castle was probably built around 1895. The building, which has been restored to a large extent, is located at the entrance to a natural landscape park of about five hectares with an impressive, artificially created pond complex.
If you drive through the village of Schildfeld, you will inevitably pass the old Schildmühle. It looks abandoned, but a closer look reveals that renovation work has begun in recent years.
Anyone strolling through Wittenburg's city center and moving from the town hall in the direction of the ramparts will also pass the Hunger Tower through the narrow alleys of the old town. This was part of the old city wall and served as a prison tower in the Middle Ages.

Anyone driving through the small village of Düssin from the direction of Boizenburg will see the imposing red clinker brick building with its mighty hipped roof and the small tower on top, which is somewhat reminiscent of the spire of the Hamburg Michel, from afar.
Probably in the 12th century the historical ramparts of Boizenburg were built. They served to protect the just developing town on the Boize River. More than 45 bridges over the moat gave the town the nickname "Little Venice of the North".
Anyone coming to Hagenow from the direction of Schwerin will see the municipal water tower of Hagenow from afar. It supplied the inhabitants with drinking water until the 1970s, when it was decommissioned. After reconstruction in the 1990s, it is now used as a residential and commercial building.
The very name Wittenburg indicates that there must have been a castle here once. This was destroyed in 1150 by Henry the Lion and replaced by a new castle complex, on the foundation of which the office tower was built in 1848.
Since June 2008, the town of Wittenburg has been a member of the "Legends and Fairy Tales Route" association. Like all the other member towns, Wittenburg has its own original fairy tale character: the legendary Undine at her enchanted spring.
The late baroque village church was built from 1765 to 1768 and stands surrounded by old lime trees on an octagonal churchyard. Its inventory from the Rococo period has also been preserved - a rare exception in Mecklenburg.
Anke Meixner's workshop and gallery is located in the heart of the UNESCO Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve. This is where she creates unique works of art out of paper. The extensively renovated residential and stable building of the farm from 1903 is surrounded by a large garden. Guests are always welcome but must make an appointment.
Grenzhus Schlagsdorf tells the story of the inner-German border between the Baltic Sea and the Elbe from 1945 to 1990 from the perspective of the people in the border area. How did people live on both sides, how did they react to the constraints of the GDR border regime and the Cold War? The historical learning site is divided into a museum, an outdoor area with reconstructed barrier installations and a border trail "Grenzwege Schlagsdorf".

The late Romanesque village church in Vietlübbe near Gadebusch has a special feature in its ground plan.
The Boizenburg town hall was built in 1708 on the market square. Only one year later it fell victim to a town fire. In 1711 the town hall was rebuilt as a baroque half-timbered house.
The Marienkirche Groß Salitz dates from the 13th and early 14th century and surprises with its unusual size and shape for a village church. As a "bicycle culture church" cyclists and hikers are welcome to use the rest area at the church.
For over 100 years, the Hagenower Bekow with its bogs, ponds, forest and field has been a popular recreation area for the people of Hagenow. The protected landscape area with many special habitats can be explored on a circular trail during a walk. In summer, visitors can also refresh themselves in Hagenow's forest pool. For those who want to delve deeper into the flora and fauna, there is a free audio guide for their own smartphone.
The village church of Roggendorf is a medieval fieldstone church in the Mecklenburg municipality of Roggendorf, built in the 13th century.
The museum of local history of the town of Boizenburg/Elbe - a museum institution, which presents worth seeing, worth knowing and interesting things from the history of the town on the river Elbe under the motto "Streiflichter kleinstädtischen Alltagsleben".
The striking half-timbered church is a building from the 18th century. The interior, tower, organ and bell date from the second half of the 19th century.
As small as it is, one could almost overlook the chapel at Moraas. Its peculiarities are discovered at second glance. Actually, it consists of two buildings - the chapel room, which was actually built in the 70s, and a wooden bell tower, which was built at the beginning of the 19th century and in whose pews rings a bell from the 14th century.
The Boizenburg Tile Museum is the only museum of its kind in Germany. Over 2000 historical tiles from the period around 1880 to 1925 are exhibited on 500 square meters. One focus is on tiles from the Art Nouveau period.
If there were a beauty contest for town halls, Wittenburg's would probably be one of the favorites for the winning title. With its double-flight staircase, archway and four massive rectangular towers, the restored building is more reminiscent of a castle than an administrative seat.
Six kilometers south of Hagenow lies the Warlitz manor house, built in 1620 by the Danish Colonel von Pentz. After many changes of ownership, the estate is now privately owned.
In its present form, the church of Carlow is a neo-Gothic cross-rib-vaulted brick building, with a transept and a tower visible from afar in the west.
The village church of Redefin was built between 1843 and 1847 as a neo-Gothic brick building with a front west facade and a central tower, and the interior is also in Gothic style. The church houses the oldest organ in Mecklenburg.
Museum Old Sexton House
In Breitscheidstraße of Lübtheen, opposite the elementary school, there is a well-kept park bearing the name of Friedrich Chrysander. The latter is one of the most important personalities of the town. On the occasion of the 150th birthday in the mid-1970s, a stone bust was erected in his honor in the park.
In the middle of the field between Dammereez and Dersenow stands a stone cross. The roughly hewn red granite commemorates a murder that is said to have taken place at that spot in the late Middle Ages.

The goat farm with its cheese factory is located on the edge of the charming nature reserve of the Schaaleniederung.The milk for the handmade cheese comes exclusively from the own Toggenburg and Thuringian forest goats. All products are also available at the market cart, e.g. at the weekly markets in Boizenburg (Wednesdays) and in Dannenberg (Thursdays).
The manor house Mühlen Eichsen dates back to the 19th century.
