The erratic boulder "Großer Stein" is one of the largest on the Island of Rügen.
The "Big Stone" of Nardevitz, located about 250 m from Rugeshus, has impressive dimensions of 8.60 m x 4.60 m x 3.10 m (L x W x H). With its 281 tons of weight this mighty granite is next to the "Buhskam" the second largest erratic boulder on Rügen. The stone, which was once three times as large, was demonstrably used in 1854 as a quarry for the extraction of building material for the production of monuments, such as the so-called Prussian columns. Blast edges and grooves make the erratic boulder look very irregularly shaped.
