Brick Gothic

The town church of Marlow, a red brick building resting on granite rocks, was completed and consecrated in 1244.

On the south side, far up in the center above the pairs of windows, this date can be read. The tower dates from the 15th century. Its eight-sided pyramid helmet is remarkable. From the tower you enter the nave, the ceiling of which is formed by the three vaulted bays and has a different design. The most beautiful one is located above the chancel. It shows strange mythical creatures, the meaning of which has not been clarified to this day. During renovation work between 1978 and 1988, medieval ceiling and wall paintings were discovered in the vault area. The Renaissance pulpit was also restored. Other sights include the altar ensemble with the blessing Christ and the portrait of a pastor who worked in Marlow between 1660 and 1700. Interesting is the accompanying laudation in Latin hexameters, which unfortunately is no longer complete.
