Campsites

In Meesiger, in the middle of Mecklenburg Switzerland, on the eastern shore of Lake Kummerow, where the shore rises into a chain of gentle hills, lies the Gravelotte campsite. A fine sandy beach, wide sunny meadows and a pretty harbor with ferry connections to the other shore ensure carefree camping vacations!

Lake Kummerow is with 11 km length and 5 km width the fourth largest in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Due to its natural nature with wide reed belt it offers enough space for humans and animals. Watch cranes, gray herons, white-tailed eagles, beavers and many more. At the campsite there is a water hiking rest area with boat moorings for private and commercial navigation. Here you can take part in round trips on the lake and the Peene. Or rent a boat yourself and go on a discovery trip. The Amazon of the North, the Peene, with its many water lily fields and the beaver castles is especially recommended. Follow its natural course until it flows into the Baltic Sea.

The campsite has extensive sanitary facilities. In the adjacent area there is a paid parking lot with sufficient parking spaces. The newly built playground invites the little visitors to play. Various sales booths and rental stations are also available. The campsite has 129 pitches on 4 hectares, so there is enough space for motor caravans, caravans and tents. At the harbor there is a slipway for boats. The campsite is open from April 1 to September 30.

Ivenack Castle

  • Am Schloss, 17153 Ivenack

The older, middle part of the castle dates back to the 16th century - the monastery building. A first extension took place in 1709 and after passing to the Imperial Counts v. Plessen around 1750. The semicircular stables, the orangery, the tea house and the church also date from this period. Around 1810, the castle was again extended by two wings. Since 2016, it has been renovated in accordance with the preservation order. The 1000-year-old Ivenack oaks in the former animal park are Germany's first national natural monument.
