You shouldn't start planning your houseboat vacation too late. The early booking discount ensures you a lower price. We were out and about in the fall and discovered a pure natural paradise with all its biodiversity.

For anyone looking for peace and nature, there is hardly a better adventure than a trip on a houseboat along the Peene, also known as the “Amazon of the North”. With its pristine shores, expansive floodplains and unique biodiversity, the Peene offers the perfect backdrop for a slow-paced experience on the water.

The providers on the Peene make it possible for you to hire a comfortable houseboat from, for example, Anklam in the north of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Whether you have a motorboat license or not, anyone can become a captain here. If you don't have a motorboat license, you will receive a tourist charter license on site after a briefing, which you can use to steer the boat safely and legally for the duration of your trip.

Comfort and freedom on the water

The next destination: the idyllic Stolpe waterway rest area, where you can stop to enjoy the peace and quiet on the shore and moor your houseboat. This rest area is ideal for taking a short break, stretching your legs and enjoying a meal instead of self-catering on board. The on-board kitchen usually has everything you would find in a vacation apartment. So you don't have to do without anything when cooking.

The speed of the houseboat is comparable to a leisurely walk, but that's what makes the trip so appealing. On the Peene, it's not about moving as quickly as possible, but rather enjoying the tranquillity and beauty of the landscape to the full.

This region is a paradise for nature lovers in particular. The sunrise in the middle of nature, from the deck of the houseboat, is an unforgettable moment – sometimes with little ¨surprises that make up the charm of this unique region.

Pure nature - a paradise for explorers

The Peene is a true natural wonder. You will discover beavers, ospreys, herons and an impressive variety of fish on your trip. The leisurely glide on the river by boat brings you very close to nature. There is also a simple solution for fishing enthusiasts without a fishing license: At any tourist information office in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, you can purchase a tourist fishing license, which allows you to fish without any prior knowledge. You can obtain the corresponding fishing license at the designated issuing points.
