Rachmaninov - Gershwin - Ligeti

One musician, one instrument, 28 composers: Festival prizewinner and jack-of-all-trades Kit Armstrong travels with the audience through the ages. Whether attending one or all five concerts presented by him, the world of piano literature opens up in a completely new way through the eyes of this curious and enthusiastic virtuoso.
With this last concert in the monumental series presented by the artist himself, we have arrived in a century of stylistic pluralism. With his selection, Kit Armstrong presents facets of music from the 20th century to the present day, as they can be heard in Russia, England, the USA, Hungary, Estonia and Japan. And he does not miss the opportunity to contribute his own compositions. Sergei Rachmaninov's "Corelli Variations", which are both melancholy and reflective as well as energetic and rousing, form the starting point and heart of the program. In keeping with the framework of "Five Centuries of Piano Music", they seem to span the ages.
