The Legacy of the Premonstratensians
01.04 - 31.04.2023
The exhibition, conceived by the Medieval Center Magdeburg, traces on twelve panels the life of the order's founder Norbert of Xanten and the development of the Premonstratensian Order, which celebrated its 900th anniversary in 2021.
In 1121, Norbert of Xanten founded a religious community in Prémontré, France, with a small group of "pious dropouts." Within a few decades, this grew into the Premonstratensian Order. 200 years later, the nuns of the Rehna monastery also belonged to this order.
The curator of the exhibition is the art historian Sabine Ullrich from the Kulturhistorisches Museum Magdeburg.
The exhibition can be visited during the regular opening hours of the KLostermuseum.
