The actor Walter Plathe reads from his autobiography and then answers questions from the audience
On stage, he played the seductive Liliom, the mischievous Schwejk and the tragic Professor Unrat. In films he played comic and serious roles, and on television he was the down-to-earth, likeable "Landarzt" for seventeen years. His roles were as dazzling and varied as the straightforward and direct character behind them. Walter Plathe - a real Berlin plant, a guy with heart and snout, a popular actor who sticks to his credo: "The mother of Janze is the theater!" His grandfather already ran a private folk theater, but his family warned the boy against the unprofitable art. He first trained as a salesman in a pet shop, but eventually devoted himself wholeheartedly to acting, because: "I had to choose between my love of animals and the desire to pretend and play". Plathe tells his life story with a great deal of humor.
Walter Plathe, born in Berlin in 1950 and raised in the Ackerstraße district, began his career at the Distel. After drama school, he went to the Schwerin Theater and appeared in numerous DEFA and TV films. He gained great popularity as a ZDF country doctor, had theater engagements in Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin, among others, and appeared in solo programs. His autobiography "Ich habe nichts ausgelassen" was published in 2017.
