Thought Raven
Every year at Pentecost, works by artist Thought Raven meet works by another artist at Kunsthaus Stove. 2023 Susanne Becker shows her drawings of people and animals in motion and gives a mini-workshop on "Moving - Observing - Drawing". With a few tips and the willingness to engage in an initially unfamiliar process, even beginners can produce lively drawings. The workshop lasts about 30-45 minutes.
Susanne Becker lives in Lower Franconia. She has studied graphic design and art education, worked as an illustrator for children's and non-fiction books, and teaches painting and drawing at the VHS Munich, in her own studio and elsewhere. Contact: www.bilderundkurse.de.
Thought Raven's reliefs and paintings reflect her exploration of the themes of time, movement, and space. These themes are also evident in the constellations of the sculptures in their surroundings. Raven created his sculptures from wood taken from local trees and developed his own painting techniques for his paintings using natural colors he made himself. He lived in the Eifel, Berlin and Stove.
Kunsthaus Stove has existed since 2013, the ensemble forming a spatial sculpture developed according to the artistic conception of the sculptor and painter Thought Raven and implemented together with his sister Ida Schillen and the artist's family. The residential house was carefully ecologically restored. A sculpture garden was created. Along the paths, sculptures made of oak, a herb snail, crater and mound beds made of clay can be seen. In 2016, a straw bale clay house was newly built as a studio. The Meerkultur e.V. association manages the sculpture garden. After the sudden death of the artist Thought Raven in the summer of 2017, the association works with interested artists who appreciate the artistic ambience and can use the studio for their own projects.
