Exhibition of two companions of an era in transition
The permanent exhibition at the Ernst Moritz Arndt Museum has been enriched with a small themed exhibition, opening up new lines of sight. The connection between Ernst Moritz Arndt (1769-1860) and his contemporary and fellow countryman Caspar David Friedrich (1777-1840) comes into focus. The writer and the artist were friends and at times engaged in mutual exchange. Although they worked in different fields, they shared common interests and ideals that shaped their relationship.They were both political thinkers and actors in a time of upheaval and found powerful means of expressing their thoughts in their intellectual and artistic works - with words or with a brush.
