Even before the Second World War breaks out, the Polish Jew Leo falls in love with his neighbor Alma. He promises to make her laugh for the rest of her life and even writes a book about his "most beloved woman in the world", which he calls "The Story of Love". But then Alma has to flee to faraway America and leave Leo behind. But he will never forget his great love. Decades later, a young girl in New York stumbles across her parents' favorite book: 15-year-old Alma is named after a character from the very novel Leo wrote more than half a century ago. "The Story of Love" brings their fates together and enables a belated reunion...
