Scenic reading freely adapted from Anton Chekhov
Dimitrij Gurow, a married bank employee accustomed to brief amorous adventures, enters into a liaison with Anna Sergejewna, who has arrived alone but is also married, during a summer vacation by the sea. When she has to leave in a hurry shortly afterwards to see her husband, who has fallen ill, Gurov feels a certain sense of relief. Back in Moscow, he is sure that the memory of her, as with all his previous loves, will soon fade. But he soon has to admit to himself that this encounter has changed him completely. What to do when a fleeting vacation affair turns into love for life?
In their staged reading, actors Kristin Giertler and Thomas Kornmann interpret Chekhov's famous love story in an entertaining and profound way. The unlikely lovers not only have their say, but also meet on stage, whether by chance or on purpose, whether in denial or with ruthless honesty to the point of self-abandonment. Another attempt to fathom the mystery of love.
