Auction of 100 works by the well-known artist on the occasion of his 100th birthday. Paintings and graphics from 5 decades.
Special auction Walter Womacka: "100 works of art for the 100th anniversary" - Walter Womacka was born in 1925 in Obergeorgenthal in Sudeten Germany. After studying in Teplitz, Braunschweig, Weimar and Dresden, he moved to Berlin in 1953. He taught at the Weißensee art academy here until 1988, many years of which he spent as rector. He achieved fame early on through his numerous works in public spaces and his participation in art exhibitions in the GDR. In addition to Berlin, Walter Womacka lived and worked for a large part of the year in Loddin on the Island of Usedom. It became the "most beautiful place in the world" for him. With his iconic oil painting "On the Beach", which he painted in Kölpinsee in 1962, he became one of the most famous East German artists. This popularity remains unbroken to this day. The countless landscape and flower paintings, as well as the pictures that tell of the life and work of the people living here, made Usedom and Loddin famous far beyond the region. - To mark Walter Womacka's 100th birthday, the Koserower Kunstsalon is presenting a special auction on the Island of Usedom in collaboration with the "Freundeskreis Walter Womacka", at which 100 works of art by the artist will be auctioned off.
