Reading and dialog event with the authors of "Against the climate of violence"
Chiara is a police officer, Hannah a climate activist. In their book, the two authors bring together personal perspectives that could hardly be more contradictory and together offer a solution not only for overcoming increasing social divisions, but also for many other structural trouble spots. In view of the global rise of fascism, the escalating climate catastrophe and countless other social crises, "Against the Climate of Violence" is more relevant than ever.
"All Cops Are Bastards": Policewoman Chiara replies to this post by climate activist Hannah and has no idea of the consequences. What could have remained a digital exchange among many becomes the beginning of a friendship and a shared commitment. While Hannah is met with mistrust from the activists, police officer Chiara is hit hard: her employer initiates disciplinary proceedings and a dispute about the boundaries between freedom of expression and the duty of neutrality begins.
In view of countless unresolved crises, Chiara and Hannah call for a far-reaching reform of the police force - before it is too late. The authors take us into the everyday life of the police at the borders, to the struggles for climate justice and together analyze what drives the grievances of our time: a rousing look behind the scenes and a plea to rethink society.
Chiara and Hannah invite us to a fundamental dialog. Together we can recognize the causes of complex crises, find diverse solutions and take action together.
